Getting started after purchase
After your order, Envbay sets up your Envoryx instance (your own development server). This is where you sign in for the first time.
How to get into your instance
Section titled “How to get into your instance”The instance is your own development server.
- Sign in at my.envbay.com.
- Click Instances.
- Click your new instance.
- Copy the Password next to the username.
- Click Open instance.
- Type
adminas the username. - Paste the password.
- Open Settings.
- Change your password there.
Your instance always has this address. <customer> stands for the name you ordered:
https://envoryx.<customer>.envbay.devWhat’s next? Set up your first project: Set up a project.
If something does not work
Section titled “If something does not work”- The instance is missing from the list: Wait a moment. Reload the page.
- The password does not work: Check that you copied it completely. It has 20 characters.
- You have forgotten your password: Reset it yourself. The steps are in the chapter Control instance.
- Resetting does not work: Open a ticket with us (a message to support). The steps are in the chapter Help.
Service page and first admin account
Section titled “Service page and first admin account”On the service page in my.envbay.com under Instances you find:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Open instance | Opens the Envoryx interface of your instance |
| Base domain | Your customer address <customer>.envbay.dev |
| SSH gateway | Host and port for SSH access, see SSH and ports |
| First admin account | Username admin, 20-character password and a hint |
The password is generated once during setup and stored encrypted in the customer area. It is shown on the service page (can be hidden, with a copy button); it does not appear in logs or error messages. Envbay cannot issue it again, but you can set a new one at any time: Reset admin password in the chapter Control instance. The service page then shows the new password. After signing in, change it in Envoryx under Settings; the display does not follow this change. The entry is removed after a cancellation.
Envbay creates the first admin account itself and removes the access data from the instance setup on first start. This way, nobody can take over the open setup page of a new instance.
Name and addresses of your instance
Section titled “Name and addresses of your instance”The instance name consists of 3 to 20 lowercase letters or digits. Some names are reserved; the list is in Ordering and account. The name cannot be changed after ordering. All addresses depend on the name:
| What | Address |
|---|---|
| Interface | https://envoryx.<customer>.envbay.dev |
| Projects | https://<project>.<customer>.envbay.dev |
| SSH gateway | ssh.<customer>.envbay.dev, port 22000 + n |
The label in the instance list is only a display name in the customer area. It changes neither the instance name nor the addresses.
Users, roles and two-factor sign-in
Section titled “Users, roles and two-factor sign-in”You manage users, roles, invitations, sign-in via OpenID Connect and two-factor sign-in in Envoryx; the operation is described in the Envoryx documentation under Users and roles. At Envbay, these special rules apply:
- The number of users your instance can have is limited by your plan. Envoryx shows your plan and usage under Settings → General.
- Whether two-factor sign-in is mandatory can be set by the plan. A value set by the plan is marked with a lock icon in Envoryx.
Support access
Section titled “Support access”Envbay only opens your interface if the admins of your instance allow it. According to the Envoryx documentation, the permission applies for one hour, one day, one week, or until it is withdrawn; the session runs as user “Hoster support”, and every sign-in appears in the audit log of your instance. If you withdraw the permission, the session ends immediately. More on this under Managed instances and Help.
